I had a fantastic experience at Friary Court Dental Clinic! From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and incredibly professional. The clinic itself was spotless and modern, which immediately made me feel at ease. Dr. Maria was amazing—very gentle, thorough, and took the time to explain every step of the procedure. I really appreciated her attention to detail and the fact that she made sure I was comfortable throughout my visit. Booking an appointment was easy, and they were right on time. It’s clear that they prioritize both patient care and efficiency. I’m so glad I found this clinic—I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending it to friends and family!

I came across the Dental House Castleknock Orthodontics & Implant Care's website on Google when I searched for orthodontists around the Blanchardstown area and thankfully, my first consultation with Dr Perry was quickly arranged. Before I attended my first consultation, I was concerned about the different factors that may potentially affect my personal or work life because of undergoing a braces treatment. However, I felt reassured after our discussion as Dr Perry patiently explained my situation and provided different suggestions (or perspectives). Then I was greeted by Gabby when I had my first appointment, and honestly speaking, I have been restless for this appointment. Thankfully, Gabby and the team's professionalism and kindness have made this appointment a more lighthearted and smooth event. It has been around 18 months since my first appointment, and I have removed my braces this morning! I am very grateful for the time I have spent with the Dental House Castleknock Orthodontics & Implant Care team; it was a professional, kind, and reassuring experience.

Dr Boggs is hands down the best dentist we've ever had. My son woke up howling of pain in his back molar, it was a complete nightmare. I brought him to Dr. Boggs And it turns out an absolute eejit dentist in Athlone botched his filling. Absolutely shocking. Dr. Shane not only alleviated the pain but sorted the tooth and did so with a gentle and loving hand. That was my son, Ciaran. I won’t even get into the problems with Mickey’s root canal. but the jist of it is I thank my lucky stars for Dr Boggs and Kildare dental; without whom as a parent you’ll never get a proper night sleep again!

What should I know before getting fillings?

Everything you need to know about tooth fillings in Dublin, Kilkenny & Kildare

Dental Fillings

What are fillings?

Fillings repair cavities caused by tooth decay. The decayed part of the tooth is gently removed, and the space is filled with composite material made from a mixture of glass and plastic. This restores strength and prevents further decay, while keeping your tooth looking natural.

Dental Fillings

Why choose white fillings?

Until recently, most fillings were made from silver amalgam. While effective, they were highly visible. White fillings are stronger than ever and offer a discreet alternative that blends in with your tooth. They are mercury-free and bond securely to your tooth for lasting protection.

Dental Fillings

How do we make fillings blend naturally?

We carefully select the shade of the composite material to match your existing teeth, layering it for the most natural look possible. The result is a filling that’s almost invisible, even up close, and restores both the health and appearance of your tooth.

How do fillings work?

How we restore your tooth step by step

White fillings are applied in layers, with each layer hardened using a special light. This technique allows the filling to bond directly to the tooth, creating a strong and natural-looking result. Unlike metal fillings, composites support the remaining tooth structure and can be shaped for a perfect fit.

When might I need a filling?

Common signs that decay could be present

  • Toothache - A constant or sharp pain may mean decay has reached the inner tooth.
  • Sensitivity - Pain when eating or drinking hot, cold, or sweet foods can signal enamel loss.
  • Visible cavities - Dark spots, holes, or chips may indicate decay that needs treatment.
  • Bad breath - Persistent odour can be linked to untreated tooth decay or infection.

Do fillings still have to be silver?

Until recently, most cavities were filled with the well-known silver filling amalgams. Nowadays, white fillings have become much more durable, making them the go-to choice for resolving cavity problems in the tooth. Fillings can now look good… and invisible.

Are white fillings better for my teeth?

Today, as before, fillings can prevent cavities from progressing. Only now they are almost invisible. They blend in well with the tooth, making them near invisible. White fillings don’t have mercury in them. While it isn’t an issue, some Dentistry.ie clients take comfort in this fact.

White fillings are usually made from a mixture of plastic and glass particles, giving them a more similar structure to a real tooth over a traditional metal filling. This means you’re replacing tooth material with a realistic alternative, leading to a generally healthier tooth.

What if I feel embarrassed about decay?

One reason that often stops people from visiting the dentist is the obvious sign of decay. People may not want their dentist to know that they aren’t flossing every day or even brushing twice a day. If this is you, fear not. It is hard to avoid decay, but now, if your teeth have cavities or are showing signs of decay, the white fillings make an ideal solution.
